Shilen’s powers have greatly increased.  She has shrouded the whole continent in darkness, at which time the Dark Moon glows with increased power. Tersi, the Angel of Light, prophesized this phenomenon some time ago.  She has now come prepared to help brave adventurers drive away the darkness by cultivating creatures of light. The forces of light and dark now battle endlessly, pushing the continent back and forth between the darkness of Shilen and the light of Tersi.

 

Event Duration

Event dates updated on January 10, 2012, to alleviate server capacity issues on Chronos and Naia.

Chronos and Naia:

• January 4 to January 11, 2012: Main event period.
• January 11 to January 18, 2012: Fragments of Light no longer drop but any pre-accumulated can still be used.
• January 18, 2012: Tersi's Light Agathions, Fragments of Light, and Specters of Light are removed from the game. All rewards stay in the game.

Shilen, Magmeld and Bartz:

• January 4 to January 18, 2012: Main event period.
• January 18 to January 25, 2012: The Tersi's Light Agathion is deleted from all servers, and can no longer be acquired from the Priest of Blessing. Fragments of Light no longer drop but any pre-accumulated can still be used.
• January 25, 2012: Fragments of Light and Specters of Light are removed from the game. All rewards stay in the game.

 

Event Process

1. Obtain a Tersi’s Light Agathion Bracelet

Speak to a Priest of Blessing NPC in any major town to receive a free Agathion Seal Bracelet – Tersi’s Light. Equip the bracelet to summon the Tersi’s Light Agathion.

Agathion Seal Bracelet – Tersi’s Light: Summons Tersi’s Light to oppose Shilen’s darkness. Requires room in inventory and weight limit to be receivable. Cannot be exchanged, dropped, or sold in a private store. Can be stored in a private warehouse.

2. Keep Tersi’s Light Summoned to Receive Specter of Light Items

At all times while you are logged in, you can benefit from having the Tersi’s Light Agathion summoned. Not only will you get some important event items, but you will also affect the forces of light in the entire continent!

Over two hours, Tersi’s Light will give you an increasing amount of Specter of Light event items.

You can receive a maximum total of 25 Specter of Light items per day. The server resets at 6:30 a.m. server-time each day. The Agathion summon duration counter is based on the daily total of minutes that it has been summoned. If you log out and back in within the same day, the counter will pick-up where it left off.

Specter of Light: An item that summons a Specter of Light creature. Can only be used in a Peaceful Zone. Can be traded, dropped, and sold in a private shop.

3. Hunt monsters and obtain Fragments of Light

Fragments of Light are event items that will drop from monsters.

Fragment of Light: Summons Shards of Light when used while targeting a Specter of Light. Can only be used in a Peaceful Zone. Can be traded, dropped, and sold in a private shop.

The rate at which Fragments of Light drop is influenced by various factors:

• Hunting alone without Tersi’s Light summoned: extremely low drop rate when the continent is shrouded in the darkness of Shilen, or low drop rate when the continent is filled with Tersi’s Light.
• Hunting alone with Tersi’s Light summoned: low drop rate when the continent is shrouded in the darkness of Shilen, or medium drop rate when the continent is filled with Tersi’s Light.
• Hunting in a party: medium drop rate when the continent is shrouded in the darkness of Shilen, or medium-to-high drop rate when the continent is filled with Tersi’s Light, depending on how many party members have Tersi’s Light Agathion summoned.

The continent is filled with Tersi’s light: this occurs when 400 or more Tersi’s Light Agathions are summoned. It appears to be daytime in the world, and the drop rate of Fragments of Light increases.

 

The continent is engulfed in the darkness of Shilen: this occurs when there are less than 400 Tersi’s Light Agathions summoned. The world is cast in a dark red tone and the drop rate of Fragments of Light decreases.

 

You can check the server’s Agathion count status by speaking to the Priest of Blessing NPC in any major town.

4. Cultivate Specters of Light for Rewards in Town

With your pockets full of Fragment of Light and Specter of Light items, return to town to start cultivating. This part of the event is a mini-game. When you consume a Specter of Light item to summon a Specter of Light creature, your goal is to make the Specter of Light grow into the largest state possible by pushing Shards of Light into it. The larger the Specter of Light creature, the better reward you can receive.

• Double-click on a Specter of Light item in your inventory. It will summon a Seed-stage Specter of Light creature.
• Double-click on a Fragment of Light in your inventory. It will summon Shards of Light around the Specter of Light.
• Position yourself so that the Shard of Light is lined up between you and the Specter of Light. In your Skill window, find and use the Tersi’s Hand item skill to push it into the Specter of Light’s radius. Note that the Shard of Light will be pushed back in the direction your character is facing, so positioning is important.
• The Shards of Light stay spawned for a limited amount of time, so be quick and push them into the Specter of Light as fast as possible!

The evolution of a Specter of Light creature progresses in different stages. You start at with a Seed Stage Specter of Light. After fueling it with light shards it evolves into a Stage 1 Specter of Light or Stage 1 Mysterious Specter of Light. Pushing more Shards of Light into it can develop it into a Stage 2 and then a Stage 3 Specter of Light or Mysterious Specter of Light. The higher the stage, the better rewards it may drop.

Each stage has different conditions for success: the higher the stage, the more Shards of Light will be available, and the more Shards of Light, the less time you have to push them into the Specter of Light or Mysterious Specter of Light before the Shards of Light disappear. If you do not successfully push all the Shards of Light into the Specter of Light, there is still a chance that the Specter of Light may evolve to its next stage.

Specters of Light are fickle creatures and they may behave unpredictably. Here are some things to know about them:

• When leaving the Seed stage, there is a low chance that the Specter of Light may become a Mysterious Specter of Light. Although they are rare they have a better chance of dropping rewards.
• Specters of Light in all stages except for the last automatically despawn after 90 seconds.
• There is a chance that a Specter of Light may drop no reward at all, no matter the conditions of its cultivation.

It is possible to spawn Shards of Light around another player’s Specter of Light. As such, party play is helpful when trying to get all the necessary Shards of Light into the Specter of Light before the Shards of Light disappear.

Rewards drop from a Specter of Light when it despawns. The quality of rewards improve the more developed your Specter of Light becomes!
